Aviation Technical Services hired Code Unlimited to develop a fire protection contingency plan for a lengthy reduction of water supply for ATS and Boeing Hangers 1, 2, & 3 at Paine Field, Everett, WA. In a multi-phase project, we performed field surveys and fire pump analysis. developing fire protection alternatives and prepared compliance reports with testing criteria. This work enabled ATS, their insurer and the AHJ an operation plan to maintain its FAA Class IV Certification. With this certification, ATS performs airframe MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services on Boeing aircraft.
The ATS, Paine Field facilities serve Boeing and virtually any aircraft in the more than 300,000 sf hangars with capacity for 20 narrow body aircraft. ATS sold the 600,000 square foot Hangar 3 to Boeing in 2013 for use in the production of 747s, 757s, 777s and some 787s. Working collaboratively with ATS, Code Unlimited was able to design a system that meets the needs of one of the nation’s largest aviation production and maintenance facilities.
