Las Vegas, NV
The Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip (FSLV) is a show-stopping celebration of culture, color, lights and nightlife that features a retractable catwalk with weekly shows on the latest clothes, shoes, and accessories of the fashion world and an ‘Art on the Plaza’ area with sculptures and street art previously seen at venues like Burning Man and Life is Beautiful. With more than 250 retailers and over 30 restaurants spread across 2 million square feet, FSLV is the largest shopping, dining and entertainment experience on the Las Vegas Strip.
While Vegas is known for games of chance, the owners of FSLV are not willing to gamble with life safety issues. Code Unlimited’s Fire Protection Engineer Nick Moriarty and his team were asked by owners to provide code and fire life safety consulting and Tenant Improvement Reports for dozens of the complex’s high-rise, covered mall, and atrium buildings. For such a high-traffic site, the importance in the ability to deal with potential fires and other disasters is in such a large space with limited exit points and long walkways for egress is essential. Nick and his team provided consulting on elevators, regular and emergency exits, fire detection and suppression systems, water supplies, communication centers, smoke control and focused analysis based on tenant interior finishes and fabrics.
